Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 July 2026
This policy explains what data WoW Mate collects, why, and the rights you have over it. WoW Mate is operated by an individual based in France, so this policy follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Publisher & hosting
Publisher: WoW Mate, France. Contact: [email protected]. Hosting provider: Scaleway, 8 rue de la Ville l'Evêque, 75008 Paris, France.
What we collect
When you sign in with Battle.net, we receive only your BattleTag and the list of characters on your account. We never receive your email, your password or any other Battle.net account information, and we cannot act on your account. Your public PvP and character statistics are read from Blizzard's official API, and some match performance data comes from WoW Arena Logs, a third-party arena logs service. Both are public gameplay information tied to characters, not data you give us directly. We also store the content you create on the site (looking-for-group listings, messages you send, and any profile preferences), plus basic technical data your browser and our host record automatically, such as your IP address and request logs, to keep the service secure and working.
Cookies & analytics
Some storage is strictly necessary to run the site: local storage that keeps you signed in and saves your quiz progress. This is not used for tracking. We also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used; Clarity additionally records anonymized session interactions such as clicks, scrolls and heatmaps. These set cookies and run only if you accept them through our cookie banner, and you can decline or change your choice at any time.
How and why we use your data
We use your data to provide the service (show your profile, let you find teammates and message players), to keep it secure and prevent abuse, and, with your consent, to improve it using analytics. The legal bases are the performance of our service to you, our legitimate interest in a safe and working site, and your consent for analytics.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the providers needed to run WoW Mate: Blizzard (its API is the source of the public stats), our hosting provider, and our analytics providers Google (Analytics) and Microsoft (Clarity). Content you choose to make public, such as a looking-for-group listing, is visible to other users by design.
How long we keep it & deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing [email protected] or messaging us on Discord, and we will remove it, except anything we must keep for legal or security reasons.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can access, correct, delete, export or restrict the processing of your data, and object to it. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
Children
WoW Mate is not directed at children under 15, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date above, and flag any significant change.
